Major rail upgrades in Logan are gathering pace, with visible progress on the new Loganlea station and fresh designs released for Edens Landing.

Construction is underway on the first platform and pedestrian footbridge at the relocated Loganlea station.

Over the weekend, crews installed the first section of the new pedestrian footbridge across the rail corridor, marking a key construction milestone.

The new Loganlea station is being built directly opposite Logan Hospital to strengthen access to nearby health and education facilities.

Along the same corridor, updated precinct designs for Edens Landing station have been released for community feedback as part of the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project.

Community engagement sessions begin Monday 2 March 2026, with information also available online.

The Loganlea Station Relocation and the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project aim to improve access, safety and service reliability for the growing Logan community.

The relocated Loganlea station will provide improved links to Logan Hospital, TAFE Queensland’s Loganlea Campus and Loganlea State High School.

Department of Transport and Main Roads, A Deputy Director-General Rail, Jane Brander said the progress was encouraging for locals.

“Loganlea station is an important transport hub that helps the surrounding community connect to South East Queensland,” Ms Brander said.

“It is fantastic to see the relocated station coming together to provide a safe, convenient, and accessible station upgrade for those who live, visit and work in the area.”

She said the Edens Landing update was another major step.

“The release of the updated designs for Edens Landing station precinct is the next key milestone for the Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project, which will deliver a critical upgrade to South East Queensland’s rail network and improve the traffic flow by removing five level crossings.

“We’re pleased to be presenting the updated designs to the community and look forward to locals providing feedback at the upcoming engagement sessions.”

The Loganlea Station Relocation is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments.

Major construction works now underway include a new station building, additional platforms, a new park and ride, and local road upgrades.

The existing Loganlea station will remain open while works continue, with the relocated station expected to open in 2027.

At Edens Landing, the updated design repositions the station to align with Eddy Avenue.

Plans include improved walking and cycling links to Edens Parkland, Leighton Fields, Grove Road Reserve and Holmview Park, along with upgraded park and ride and kiss and ride facilities, new bus stops and a new active transport bridge connecting Houdini Terrace and Holmview Road.

  • 20 kilometre corridor between Kuraby and Beenleigh will have tracks doubled to boost rail capacity and reliability.

  • Five level crossings will be removed, easing congestion and improving traffic flow along the corridor.

  • 2027 is the expected opening year for the new Loganlea station, while the current station remains operational during construction.

The Loganlea relocation places the station directly opposite Logan Hospital.

This location strengthens day-to-day connections for patients, staff, students and families using nearby services.

On-site assembly of the pedestrian bridge began earlier this year, with works now clearly visible to commuters.

The Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail project will transform a key section of the South East Queensland rail network.

By doubling tracks between Kuraby and Beenleigh, the project will increase network capacity, improve reliability and reduce end-to-end journey times between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Updated designs for the final two station precincts at Holmview and Beenleigh are being refined and will be shared with the community in the coming months.

Community engagement sessions for the Edens Landing precinct begin 2 March 2026.

Further design updates for Holmview and Beenleigh stations are expected to be released in the months ahead as planning progresses.
