After a month-long action of riveting cricketing action, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has reached its last day, with India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) all set to battle it out in the Final at the picturesque Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, on Sunday, March 08. The two teams will be meeting in an ICC final for the fourth time.

India made it through to the final courtesy of their brilliant campaign thus far. They started off in Mumbai with a win against the USA and beat England in the semi-final at the same venue to seal their berth in a bid to defend their title. Suryakumar Yadav has become the first-ever captain to lead the team into a T20 World Cup final in a title-defending edition, and he will want to become a bigger part of the history at the Motera deck.

New Zealand, on the other hand, have had an excellent run, too. However, one match that defines their campaign of peaking at the right time is when they took on the unbeaten South African side in the semi-final and came out on top with a massive ten-wicket victory in Kolkata. Mitchell Santner is also hopeful of breaking a few hearts to win the trophy, but he and everyone else will come to know only when the two sides cross swords in the epic battle.

Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad: Pitch Report

The centre wicket will be hosting the final between India and New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The same wicket also hosted the IPL final in 2025. Much to the delight of Indian fans, this is not the pitch that staged the 2023 World Cup game where the Men in Blue faced one of their biggest heartbreaks against Australia. The red-and-black soil surface is expected to be a batting-friendly pitch where the chasing sides have won five out of the eight matches played here.

Opening batter Finn Allen can be the biggest threat to the Indian team on Sunday when he takes his guard to bat. The New Zealand cricketer smashed a record-breaking 33-ball century in the semi-final against South Africa to have everyone in awe of his batting skills. His stroke play is unmatched, and the right-hander holds the ability to get on top of even the best of the bowling attacks in the world. The Indians will come prepared differently against Allen.

Probable Best Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah

Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as the cheat code for skipper Suryakumar in the competition. His spell against England undoubtedly turned the fate of the match in India’s favour. Bumrah will be playing in his hometown on Sunday, and he will be hoping to make it a memorable night by bringing out his best against a formidable New Zealand batting unit. Fans will be eager to see how Bumrah goes about his business on Sunday.
